Morning Coffee – Speaking Out?

Wow, I just realized that I haven’t done this in a long time.  But to get you all caught up:  My nice espresso maker is dying :( yes very sad.  So I am using a mini French Press to make my coffee, not a exciting but still decent (I just need to go get some better beans).  I took a long trip for the past few months.  Went north for a month and also went on a New York City, London, Hong Kong and back through London and New York City trip.  It was a really amazing adventure and I can’t wait to do it all over again.

Reading around the blogs this morning I found two great videos.  The first one over at Pat Dollard posted on Feb 11th 2007: “One Brave Muslim Cleric Dares to Tell the Truth That The American Liberation of Iraq is a Blessing to Islam, on Arabic TV!”  I think says it right and it is now coming from the right people in a public forum.  When I have talked to people about this war this is what I have heard from locals that happen to be from that region. Check it out its worth a the watch.

The second video… well just amazes me.  Again from Pat Dollard’s Blog but this one shows our own media basically saying that it’s OK for foreign (in this case Iran) entities to help those who are fighting against the US: ”CNN Alliance With Jihadis Finally Exposed: CNN Correspondent Jack Cafferty Argues That Iran Has The Right To Continue To Kill Americans With IED’s And Other Weapons They Supply To Iraqi Insurgents.” Check this one out to.

Soviet monument to make way for Reagan

This is the kind of thing that makes your day.  When it comes right down to it we [Americans] do great things for people around the world.  If there were more information no how we can help them erect this stature of Reagan in Poland I would donate.  “…he [Reagan] deserved to become the centrepiece of the city’s Freedom Square, replacing a monument to the Soviet troops who drove out the occupying Nazis in 1945.

They also said that they wanted the site to be rebaptised “Ronald Reagan Freedom Square.”

Forums no more.

I have decided to close the forums.  There is no point having a gamming forum when there are thousands and thousands of them and I really don’t care to constantly update the scripts and clean it of spam for a few people.  It was fun but it’s time to move on.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to Resign

Scroll down for updates: Hot off the Press

President Bush has announced that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, architect of an unpopular war in Iraq, will resign after six stormy years at the Pentagon. Robert Gates, former head of the CIA, will replace Rumsfeld. The development occurred one day after midterm elections that cost Republicans control of the House, and possibly the Senate as well. Surveys of voters at polling places said opposition to the war was a significant contributor to the Democratic victory.

This just in from KFYI more to follow.  Here is the link: Rumsfeld Resigns, Bush Nominates Bob Gates for Defense Sec.

I’m wondering if this isn’t a ploy to get pressure off of Bush or to curtail impeachment hearings… or with Rumsfeld write a book to bash Bush or talk badly about him when the dems investigate-question him on the crap job in Iraq???  You know they will call him to testify.  Questions, so many Questions.

Morning Coffee – Day after the election

Well the world didn’t blow up… of course not. This is a great day. Yesterday Americans showed the world what balance of power means and most importantly what democracy is.

So what if the Republicans lost a few seats. I say better to the Democrats because this is going to help wake America up from it’s comatose state. I hope we Americans are more energized in the process and freedoms. We showed the world that we aren’t dictators here, our representatives face the people and when the people vote they have to listen, They can’t oppress us and they can’t just decide to stay in power.

Kim Priestap at [WizBanBlog.com] lists all of “The Republican Rout – Blogger Reaction” I have to agree it is still a bit early in the morning to think straight.. but thanks for putting this little guide for us so that we don’t have to go digging on everyone sites.

Happy Wednesday. God Bless America.

Power of One Vote

I found this in a handout I got and wanted to share.

  • 1771, one vote gave America the English language instead of German.
  • 1845, one vote brought Texas into the Union.
  • 1868, one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.
  • 1876, one vote made Rutherford B. Hayes President of the U.S.
  • 1911, one vote per precinct passed woman’s suffrage in California.
  • 1923, one vote gave Adolf Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party.
  • 1960, less than one vote per precinct gave John F. Kennedy victory over Richard Nixon.

Anyone else know of others?  Lets make this list huge.

Morning Coffee – Election Day!

Wahoo! It’s election day and as an American this is the best day of the year.  We get to exercise our right to choose.  We may not get what we want, but our freedom to vote guarantees us an opportunity to be heard.

We can protest all we want but that does not guarantee you anything… but when we vote the government must listen to us.  A Government Of, By, and For the People.

Get out and vote today!

Bono and Apple want your CASH

Ok I did actually find something…  The new IPOD 8GB to help the war on AIDS in Africa??? Or are we really helping Apple and Bono get richer?

I say this: if you want to help people donate directly to the people or the charity that is helping them.  If you want an IPOD, buy an IPOD.  Don’t feed into this crap where they will give a set % or $ for each purchase.  I guarantee that Apple and Bono are making more from this then the people.

I have to say that the marketing people that devised this clever plan to team up with charities and make products labeled for a cause is brilliant!  This positions their product as a friendly thing that is not only going to give you tunes but help the world.

I say it again if you want to help just give the money directly to the people and buy the IPOD separate.  Your not helping the situation by buying things like this, you are helping companies use charities and causes to their advantage.
